I've somewhat recovered from the monster batch of purple sock weight I finished last week, so now I'm working on spinning 300g of this cotton candy looking stuff. It's a complicated blend of shetland, corriedale and merino with added sari silk and rayon.

This batch of spinning is kicking my ass. I'm spinning it maybe a little thinner than usual, but I think the thing that's slowing it down the most is the black acrylic fiber. It doesn't draft as easily as wool and it makes my fingers sweaty.

This level of cuteness can't be legal. She's probably the most well-socialised chinchilla we've had. I've never had one that would wake up, see a human near the cage, and then just flop over asleep, unbothered.

George had a busy day. She had her first floor time. Then she got switched from the bottom level of the cage to the top, and she finally took a treat from me. Then she and Squish had a little altercation through the cage bars and she got a little scrape on her nose.

This is George. We got her a little less than 2 hours ago. She is adorable and smart and perfect and I would die for her.

This is the current spinning project. It was sold as "loose carded wool" and is a blend of blue faced Leicester and alpaca. It isn't the usual batt or roving or combed top. It's more like clumps or wads. Despite that, it's spinning beautifully and it's very soft. #handspinning

A quick before and after of some natural undyed wool I blended today. That's 2400g now. I think there's probably about 1500g left to go. #handspinning

Day 3 of the yuletide blendathon. Got another 600g of wool blended and watched 3 episodes of Buffy. 1800g total now.

Did another day of wool blending today and managed another 600g. For the sake of my arms, I'm taking tomorrow off. But the blendathon will continue on Monday.

Completed day one of the yuletide blendathon and got 600g of wool blended. There's still a lot left. I am going to use up all the shetland that I overbought 2 years ago if it kills me.

My poor Kali has to get her teeth filed down at the vet. We could tell something was off because she hasn't been biting us lately. She's a monster and I love her so much.

Tried to get a goodnight picture of the chinchillas to send my husband while he's out of town. Squish tried to eat the camera to distract me from Kali's escape attempt.

I turned off the tv and the living room lights without stopping to say goodnight to the chinchillas, and seconds later, I could hear one of them barking, so I felt guilty and went back in and apologised.

Once a year or so I spin and/or knit something just for me and that time has come early this year. It's coming up on a year since my dad died, and winter depression is already hitting hard. So I'm spinning 200g of this.
