I would read sentiments similar to this from other women or hear them say it, and both believe it but also find it impossible to imagine. Those early things and days are so singular and there's a grateful melancholy to letting them go.

Proud of the work, but also feeling — disconnected? — from it. I'm resistant to the idea that women shouldn't make art about their transition early-on because I'm resistant to the idea that women shouldn't create art. I am, however, ready to stop lingering in the emotional minutia of it all.

Our Portland social group just added a younger woman who lived in Rochester a few years back and she said there's a relatively strong trans presence there these days for a city of its size. Wonders never cease.

lol -- brick city indeed. I started in '93 at the photo school, took some time away in '94 and resumed swapping over to the then new Information Technology degree (pre-Golisano Building), finishing up in '99.
