The girls skipping should have feet on the ground at that point

But that is my professional understanding of how IR heating works efficiently - by heating the occupant directly when required and not being left in continuously, which is going to cost more than virtually any alternative.

That makes good sense - do the standard EPCs give you enough information to work out import/export/onsite use, or is that something you add?

So probably used a default-for-age cavity wall in the model - if you actually have solid wall then possibly the survey was at fault

I've just looked at EPC of a newbuild some relatives just bought - actually not bad at all on fabric, I think about 45 kWh/m2.a in PHPP, with gas combi - EPC 84, a solid B

With passivhaus designs we've usually got a B (provided MVHR is on the "list") - need PV to reach A
January 21, 2026 at 8:53 PM
Does that include PV?

What have you replaced dropbox with?
And how do you deal with project collaboraters who still use it?

I dont know - there are clearly some efficiencies for users of a more or less universal interface and common file format

Web browsers might be first place for this but I understand firefox has v small user base (2.5%) - Chrome has majority, presume cos included in android

I think there is actually a separate version but I havent tried yet, and will be a pain to convert existing files between two formats all the time

But we seem a bit stuck with microsoft for office software, I tried open office at weekend but it wouldnt open my PHPP spreadsheets

Also nokia make a current 4g model, and there's Doro from sweden (I just got one of their intentionally simple phones for my aunt)
January 19, 2026 at 4:21 PM
You might find it needs 4g

seemed pretty saturated to me

Last week gloucester to edinburgh and back (west coast line closed) - just glad they weren't crowded as I'm too big to fit in a single seat for that long

I worked in projects with OMA when I was at Arup (karlsruhe museum and eurolille). My memory is they were quite annoying, and liked to send thick-lined sketches by fax

Feels like grok CSAM might be a bit of a test case of how much illegality you can blame on the machine - and Hesgeth is looking interested as his idea of military attacks turns out to basically be murder
