CDC has finally adopted the recommendations its vaccine panel made Sept. 19. This should increase access to Covid vaccines somewhat — CVS and Walgreens had said once the recs were official, they'd offer the shots w/o Rx nationwide, and Vaccines for Children program also needed the official approval

you can love a character and still admit when they're wrong. we love Shadow but we can acknowledge his flaws (he has none) and we can hold him accountable for his wrongdoings (he has never done anything wrong in his life) and call him out on his actions (which are always correct)

It is morally wrong to want a computer to be sentient. If you owned a sentient thing, you would be a slaver. If you want sentient computers to exist, you just want to create a new kind of slavery. The ethics are as simple as that. Sorry if this offends

That is why I chose to specifically highlight the language of non-consent around AI. If you read this and it made you feel self-conscious about your own support for AI, maybe you should examine that feeling. But I have no interest in further entertaining a blatant misreading of what I said.

I chose my words carefully and deliberately. A disregard for consent permeates our society and affects many aspects of our lives: tech stealing our voices without permission, anti-labor laws that prevent workers from refusing unsafe conditions, a rogue government making unilateral decisions, etc.
