The National Opera is leaving the Kennedy Center. How could it not? If your venue's new leadership goes out of its way to ban drag, there's no way it can be a host for opera.

Opera's aesthetics are a key inspo for drag visuals, it has a huge queer following and a long tradition of gender-bending.

Minnesota authorities should go by the video evidence, interview the witnesses, and get a warrant to arrest the ICE agent themselves, then.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota investigators say they can't access evidence after fatal ICE shooting and FBI won't work jointly on probe.

For hundreds of years, the west's colonialist play, very often to their success, has been "divide and conquer."

Ethnonationalism plays very directly into that play, splitting apart united and strong nations worldwide.

They've now done it in Syria, and are trying to do it in Iran.

Stay wary.

It should not have taken the murder of a woman who looks like you for you to finally come to this point.

The scale of the protests in Iran are absolutely unbelievable. Hard to quantify, but I've seen some speculation that this uprising is more significant than the 2023 protests (themselves the largest challenge to the regime since it came into power in '79.)

It’s amazing that this needs to be repeated ad nauseam.

But what’s happening now, happened during Jim Crow,

Happened during the fight for labor organizing and the 8 hour work day in the 19th century

happens every time a stop and frisk of a Black/brown person goes wrong

Like Mikki said
Everything happening now has a precedent. This is not new. Please understand that everything happening now is very American. The only change is that it is happening on camera to middle income white people. Ask BIPOC and low income white people about abuses by the state.

I feel a way about being asked to take advice from how to process the death of a woman murdered trying make sure her neighbors didn’t disappear .. six blocks from where a Black man was compressed to death

From people who can’t speak up when every Black person around them is fired or pushed out

If there’s ever been a time in history to educate yourself, it’s now. We’re living through a modern war against intelligence and literacy.

I missed this show so freaking much.

Dammit, I totally just realized what Captain Seven’s command thing should be:

“Warp may now commence.”

The biggest reason I want to seize control of the entertainment industry is so I can make dreams like CJA’s come true.
In the unlikely event I ever have a massive hit TV show, I hope I have the guts to make the final episode a weird as fuck trippy freak show that makes the final episode of The Prisoner look like the Home Shopping Channel by comparison.

Viewer's brains melting right and left. Go the full gonzo.

If Andreas Katsulas hadn’t died, I have no doubt he would have returned as Tomalak in Picard.

What an epic that would have been…

Everyone knows about Ahmed al-Ahmad, the Syrian Muslim migrant who took down one gunman. Another man, a Middle Eastern refugee, ran into a firefight and kicked the gun away from the other gunman. Police shot him, and bystanders kicked him in the head while he was down, thinking he was the terrorist.
