Unsolicited writing advice, no. 1579: If you’re going to write in any genre (children’s fiction, SFF, romance, etc), you need to read EXTENSIVELY in that genre. You need to read current authors in the genre. You need to know what’s been done; what tropes exist; how the genre has changed.

I feel very stupid. It happened in a split second when a drinking glass cracked in my hand, and I looked at my finger before the bl**d started and thought, "that's going to need stitches" 🤔

Progress of my hurty finger. The wound and stitches are clean and dry (I won't share those pics). Picking up a malleable foam and metal splint from the pharmacy has freed my left middle finger, but I'm still not allowed to cook or wash the dishes 😁

Really, truly amazing that OpenAI wants us to believe that they are worth a trillion dollars but also they are so desperate for revenue that they created an infinite SlopTok app that opens them up to a billion lawsuits just so that they can maybe someday make it even worse by filling it with ads.

A friend is keeping an eye on my house and it's okay. My daughter's flat (empty, for sale) got flooded though, and I'm waiting to hear how bad it is

Honey, I'm in Australia visiting my dad, and watching very worried as it unfolds

On Mull itself lots of trees down, damage to property, no ferries or buses, but I haven't heard of any injuries thank goodness
