Take a look at my first preprint as a first author!
We analyse the effect of population structure in SMC methods and find two systematic biases that have indeed extra information about the population! We model the nature of these biases and find a link with the isolation of the population and Fst.

It's the first human WGS study in Sudan. We uncover one of the strongest selection signals to date, pointing to post-admixture adaptation to malaria in Copts. Huge thanks to all co-authors. @aidaandres.bsky.social @jgarcia-cal.bsky.social @ebosch1972.bsky.social

An experience I will never forget!
After a week of intense population genomics, lots of tired but still smiley faces. Thank you @embo.org for funding another edition of our Population Genomics course in Naples. And thank you to the trainers and participants for making this eight edition another success! #EMBOpopgen

They did it! They opened the path to overcome the assumptions the of SMC-based coalescent with LLMs. This new era is just right here!

Excited for our publication on how the geographic scale of a sample affects the discovery of rare, deleterious variants to be out this week. With a mix of theory, simulation, and data analysis, we show when samples are narrow vs broad, the number of variants discovered and their frequencies change
