I made a puzzle game: http://s.team/a/2292710/

Board games based on video games are everywhere, so I contacted a board game company to make one for me!
But the promo video they sent… is a little weird.

Remember that Waterfall Prisoner is on sale until January 5th... WAIT! One last: in every Steam promotional image, I’ve always added a small custom detail. Have you spotted them?

I didn’t want to finish the advent calendar without mentioning the forest puzzle, one of my favorite puzzles, honestly. It’s based on a game that had a huge influence on me: The Witness.

This one is easy and obvious: the door was based on the Tower symbol, meant to look like a small maze.
There’s another maze as well, hidden in the central monolith of the Garden.

I spent some time figuring out how to give hints in the Garden.
I didn’t want more notes, as they didn’t fit the open environment. Finally, I used texts, but integrated into the environment: using plates on different pedestals.

For the puzzle that gives you access to the Garden, you need to look at the symbols on four pedestals. Those symbols are a key and its lock, split into four pieces.

I’m running out of ideas! Time to dig into the Garden sketches, spoiler alert!
This is its central monolith, and the core idea was pretty clear from the very beginning. At that point, I had no idea where to put the plates that activate its three sides.

Have you noticed this briefcase, right? Originally, I wanted to empty your inventory here so it wouldn’t get in the way during the DLC.
But I worried it wouldn’t be clear this happens AFTER escaping, so I left all your stuff where it is…

What’s that ladder doing there?
The birdhouse is so tall that it wouldn’t feel realistic for the player to reach it. I tried to keep a sense of coherence across the whole game... Not sure if I fully succeeded!

The unofficial mascot of Waterfall, the little dragon that appears in many shapes and colors throughout the game, returns as a fish to grant access to the Garden of Secrets. #gamedev #indiegame

Maybe you already know Waterfall Prisoner (puzzles, keys, and secrets hidden in a mysterious Tower).
Now I’d like to introduce the Garden of Secrets, an extra area unlocked after finishing the game. Any feedback is very welcome!

Christmas begins at the Waterfall Tower!
Holiday decorations appear on December 15th and are stored on January 1st by the Tower’s inhabitants.
By the way, you can spot the Tió, a log that “brings” gifts to children in Catalonia.

There’s a spot in the Garden where you can find the number of small star constellations and their colors.
You can solve it without knowing this, but it might help you understand what you’re looking for.

I’m sure you’ve noticed some of the references hidden in the workshop.
How do you show the player which key they’re supposed to craft? The idea was to give the key’s teeth partially shaped and let them figure out the rest with whatever they find.

There are two ways to get the final note. You can obtain it at the start of the Epilogue, as usual.
But if you go through the Garden, you might reach the Tower without the note, so before finishing the DLC the character writes it during the final puzzle.

The stone puzzle can’t be completed without "that" item in your inventory, because I cheat a little: by default, the player only rotates tiles in 90° steps, so they never quite align correctly!
With correct item in hand, the rotation becomes precise.

If you look carefully from one of the river crossings, you can see the hidden underwater bridge. Had you noticed it?
