Lol I made a Pokemon comparison with friends a while ago. Guess it tracks with Taylor being the most successful artist of our time and Pokemon being the most successful franchise of our time that the moment either of them slips up the hate wagon becomes an awful hysteria.

Besides you can absolutely refocus and deviate from the previous album in just a year. I don’t think Taylor needs to stop making music just to try something else (she literally made folklore on a whim out of boredom)

i hate when people think they have profound advice for an artist and it's just "don't release an album every year." flood the block, i don't give a fuck, people were releasing three LPs a year in the '60s.

I think my current Life Of A Showgirl take that I’m sure about is that this is maybe the fourth blockbuster album in a row that was underwhelming and came from an artist who should frankly be doing better (Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Doja Cat, now Taylor Swift). No wonder Wallen is eating their lunches.

My prediction for the new Taylor album is that this will be the one that finally pleases Swifties and hyper-online music nerds and while they’ll be celebrating I’ll be sitting there like “this is her worst album since 1989 TV :(“

Speaking as an under 30 who knows many other under 30s I think Ironic still has the edge. Tho idk how many know it as “Ironic” and not “It’s Like Rain On Your Wedding Day”

Otherwise you’re doing what Tyler Hubbard, Tim McGraw and Kane Brown did with their “let’s all get along” songs: Half measures that only serve their own perspectives and privileges without properly engaging with those they disagree with. Because “get along” is just code for “no conflict”.

… Charlie treated other people when he was alive. Even if he was kind to you or people you know and respect, he wasn’t kind to his political enemies. Your frustrations with the lack of empathy over the past month apply just as much to him as the posts that you see on Twitter or Youtube.

You don’t have to agree with people that his death wasn’t a tragedy. You can mourn him and dislike how many who didn’t like him reacted to his death. But if you’re going to make songs to “send a message” and that message boils down to “we should be kinder to each other”, you have to recognize how…

You HAVE to recognize that Kirk and his audience did not express empathy to others when it came to people they disagreed with politically. There is tons of video evidence of Kirk making horrible comments about liberals and leftists and their beliefs. Especially in regard to gender and race.

You can make all your “why can’t we get along” statements all you want, we can agree that there’s a lack of empathy from some people in response to such a harrowing event, you can push all your religious beliefs and claim we’d should be reading the bible, but that HAS to extend to Kirk himself.
