From her alcove, the lioness watches him cross the slick floor perhaps a little too quickly; he nearly slips a couple of times just speedwalking. She probably wouldn’t have even paid him any mind if he hadn’t made himself so conspicuous, but every detail comes surging back. His pathological need to play it cool, his pitiful sexual endurance in spite of it; his toned physique, and his extremely cooperative shoulder span in spite of that, too. He would be so easy to catch again.

“You. Come here.”

Suyi turns his head and freezes, or tries to, but skids a little bit and has to scramble to keep his footing when the lioness unmistakably addresses him. It’s the same voice too, maybe just slightly aged. Now that he’s looking at her, she’s got a shock of silver in her mane. A slightly trimmer build as well, probably from chasing down unfortunates in the tall grass like him. He wonders if he’s dreaming. On the other hand, if he’s not, would she really start something here in a Dominion outpost? Continuing to hold her gaze, he starts to walk away.

“Ah. Stop that,” she berates, walking toward him instead.

The heron takes note of the others leaving far more casually than he’d been fixing to. They don’t seem scared of her at all. Not on her unconventional menu, he guesses. Maybe they just didn’t make the mistake of playing her game. His wandering focus snaps dead ahead as the lioness stomps a foot on arrival.

She bends at the knees to get down to his level. He’s not watching her face anymore, he’s watching that thing she’s packing, cautious she doesn’t simply slip it over him without another word. She makes no such attempt, but she does have to actively heft it to prevent it from touching the floor. Her splayed fingers don’t even wrap halfway around her shaft, which droops semi-rigidly over her palm, head angled somewhere off to Suyi’s left.

“It’s been a while,” she states. “I guess we’re coworkers now.”

Yeahhh I definitely couldn’t manage this kind of speed with that level of finesse. These have all been effectively first drafts with minimal smoothing; when I’m actually planning things out and revising, it’s a *lot* slower for me too

There’s probably a better way to write these stories in a timely manner and not go overboard. I don’t do as much writing in the middle of the day on my breaks as I wanna, but at night I’ll go on and on.
Maybe I should set a timer and try to make something while cognizant of that limit.

Something scratches against the wall from outside, making Mischief’s fur bristle. She sits upright… or tries to, only to realize she cannot. Even her breathing is slow and subdued. She screws her eyes shut in a moment of realization. It’s sleep paralysis, isn’t it? Or at least a dream about it. She can’t move, and something raking its huge claws against the cabin is about to haul itself through that window.

“This won’t be very fun if you guess everything in advance,” something growls into her ear.

Mischief’s eyes dart to the opposite corner of her field of vision. There is nothing there. She wants to call out, but even if she can summon the courage, her body still refuses.

“Up here.”

On the wall above her, in defiance of gravity, pink and green claws streak the wallpaper, flexing on enormous paws attached to something hiding in the shadows outside the already meager dawn light. Three eyes open wide, luminous neon spirals beaming down at her.
