This is a different but related issue: incremental suburban development that has no grid and misaligned streets. Street patterns like the below make it nearly impossible to build decent pedestrian and bike routes unless cities can afford to buy some land to build better connections

The Colorado Convention Center in Denver is another bad example

In SLC, the areas around the Salt Palace Convention Centers are some of the worse parts of downtown. Interrupting 100 S is awful, and the 200 W underpass is really bad for pedestrians and cyclists
