"15 years ago, Polish workers came here to find opportunity. Now Poland is growing twice as fast as we are," says Kemi Badenoch.

Any ideas what may have happened in the interim?

Interesting contrast: government leaders rejecting EU funded drone walls, while embracing EU funded anti-migrant walls. 😒

Just discovered this fantastic oral history of the Brussels media bubble 🇪🇺 thanks for sharing!

Brussels leaks like a sieve b/c so many countries involved and no consequences, etc. So everything plays out in the press. (See this great podcast episode with Politico.EU founder Matt Kaminiski). And this creates drama, will it or won't it happen... etc. But... 3/ podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

Ursula von der Leyen says a "part" of the €140 billion reparations loan for Ukraine will be used "for procurement in Europe and with Europe".

"Importantly, there is no seizing of the assets. Ukraine has to repay the loan if Russia is paying reparations," she says.

Mark Rutte, by her side: "If!"

🚨 BREAKING: The pro-EU Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) is firmly in the lead of Moldova’s election, with around half of votes counted so far and PAS-sympathetic constituencies still to tally.

The Trump regime is seeking "regime change in Europe" former Chatham House director Robin Niblet tells the New York Times.

This American-led global far right movement is turning into the Comintern of our times, warns Dutch historian @luukvmiddelaar.bsky.social.

It's particularly rich that a think tank directly funded by an authoritarian government, which has systematically dismantled academic freedom in Hungary, is lecturing others about "academic independence."

The only one literally paid to produce propaganda here is the report's author.
alesojka.bsky.social
We should not dismiss this for the sheer stupidity of what is being argued; this is a well-funded (certainly, much better than the Jean Monnet programme it criticises) and coordinated attack on the democratic freedoms and the openness of European societies.
alesojka.bsky.social
Emboldened by the Trump 2.0 administration, Orban-funded "researchers" are laying the ground for questioning some of the key tenets of European integration.
proufos.bsky.social
For example, the "research" is indignant that students making use of the Erasmus program get to spend time abroad, thereby “weakening national identifications”. 🤮 6/

Putin repeats that he will stop the war against Ukraine if there will be an agreement ‘to eliminate all primary causes of the conflict’.

Putin needs to remember that the only ‘primary cause’ for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is the authoritarian & aggressive Putin regime itself.

🇵🇱⚖️Adam Bodnar is out as the Polish Minister of Justice/Prosecutor General, why? First, being a good academic/human rights defender doesn't necessarily make you a good politician; second, you can't please everyone who wants to be pleased; third, timid people aren't suited for savage times. 1/
