A Labor Day reminder: today there isn't a single city, metro area, or state in the U.S. where a full-time minimum-wage worker can afford a modest 2-bedroom apartment.

Millions of people with jobs—even multiple jobs—aren't safe from homelessness in this country.

Getting to the point with my new hyperfixation where I’ve exhausted all the most rewarding media (fanfic, press tour, making of video) and now I have to start facing real problems.

Everything inside me is on hold waiting for my mom to get a cancer diagnosis and a plan but I have to keep going about life like nothing has changed

Turns out ao3 isn’t just for distracting myself from migraines but it’s also useful when you’re overnight at the hospital with your mom while she struggles to breathe through probably cancer.

Some people think this is an exaggeration but I will say that if I were HHS Secretary and my goal were to kill as many children as possible, it would be difficult to distinguish the actions I would take from those that Kennedy has taken.

For those who say rude things about "Dark Age" medicine then you might want to read this.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

At no point in this entire article of 16 paragraphs does ABC mention that another cop killed this cop by shooting her in the back. Nor does it mention the name of the cop who killed this cop. Nor does it mention that the civilians involved never fired at them.

ABC might as well be state media.

RFK Jr. said multiple times during his house and senate hearings today that no scientists have been fired from federal agencies. Our reporting has shown that hundreds, if not thousands, of scientists have been let go from NIH/CDC/FDA

What if I just didn’t try to research every medical procedure and outcome obsessively? What if I just was cautiously trusting my team?

Wtf is wrong with me that I read “taken” like he was taken off the streets like that Tufts student.
Louisville QB Tyler Shough is in the running to be the first QB taken tonight.

A round of applause for me, I read a book I didn’t like this week. I was annoyed by it but it was also good to read a romance novel written by a man with such an odd approach to prose.

Forcing people to pay $130 for a passport in order to vote is just a Jim Crow poll tax by another name.

It is blatantly unconstitutional.

this stuff is happening across the country and even more intensively downstream of the veterans admin but it's happening in so many places at once and without any public notification that it's still only barely emerging in the news
A friend drove two hours today for her breast cancer chemotherapy only to learn it was canceled due to NIH cuts. Clinical trial ended midstream. No treatment, no restart, no plan, no information. Her bro-in-law's chemo was also canceled.

Last night’s article in the Washington Post about D.C. police responding to a 911 call by illegally letting DOGE onto private property is unlike any news story I have ever read. Every single person should read this article and think about where our society is going.

If you are visiting the United States, having a negative view of Trump is enough to get you denied entry.
If this was coming out of Russia or China, we would deplore such an authoritarian attack on freedom of expression.
