It'll probably another 6 months until my Top images of 2025 are ready - after all I kick off 3 weeks in China and Taiwan on Saturday. BUT, my recently finished Top 100 from 24 are available and I'd love if you'd take a look and let me know if any really touch you. virtualwayfarer.com/2024-a-year-...

Winding deeper and deeper into the depths of the slot canyon | April 2025.

A fun challenge: how do you get a somewhat novel image of one of the most photographed spots in Iceland? (While still sticking to legal and acceptable paths). What do you think? Did I manage it? Iceland April 2025.

Democratic politicians need to stop accepting Trump’s white nationalist premise that immigration is bad and proudly and loudly make a positive case for why America’s identity and history as a nation of immigrants is so important.

For me, this is an ugly beautiful image. There is just something about the odd shapes of the ice and the contrast that makes it interesting to me. Even though those shapes are themselves a bit odd, especially together. Iceland - April 2025.

MistDefender currently sold out. Was a lovely surge in orders the last two weeks. Hope those who grabbed one love it! More on the way and should be back in stock in about a week depending on Amazon. Sorry for the delay!

Namibia's east wind transformed the coastal dunes into an inferno of blowing sand. We went straight in! Blowing sand stung our feet, pelted our equipment, filled our eyes. But time stood still: We were immersed in intense beauty, gone too soon!

A slow take on a familiar view from Iceland. One eye to the horizon at all times. April 2025. Sony A7RV + Sigma 100-400.

When you see this image what type of story comes to mind? Is it something mysterious, something action, packed, something scary? Or perhaps something mystical and fantastical - or maybe even something romantic? April 2025. #iceland #yourshotphotographer #sonyalpha

Sea light caught in the depths of ancient ice. Polished and then washed ashore atop the deep black sands of Iceland’s most unique beach. April, 2025.

The yearning - I see this lone rock - nose raised as if reaching for the falling water as it threads down from somewhere high above. March, 2025 | #iceland

The beauty of this place. Standing there with the water threading around my ankles. I just love what the shape of these rocks brings to the image. How it centers it and gives it added personality and story. Iceland, March, 2025.

One of the things I love about photographing waterfalls is the chaotic vigor. As I stand there, watching the patterns smooth out through the long exposure there are certain ebbs and flows that start to become visible. Patterns in the water you’d otherwise easily miss. #iceland

To say that the weather when I first arrived in Iceland for a spring trip was windy might be a slight understatement. There’s nothing like freezing sea mist on the lens, and a epic level of long lens shake to create some tricky photography conditions.

That’s a wrap for my photos from Japan. As always, if you like the series and what I’ve shared here, make sure you check out the full color/b&w albums over on flickr. Also don’t miss my top 100 photos from 2024 where I spotlight my favorites. Here’s one final sunset from Kyoto. December 2024.

Isn’t this a vivid illustration of the changing of the seasons? What you’re seeing in the purple is the discoloration caused by cold air blowing down a valley and unevenly across this plant. The top leaf has protected the bottom from the wind/cold. The result is a clear outline where the leaf sat.

I went to a popular spot to watch sunsets in Kyoto. However, even though it was Dec., the crowds were overwhelming. Instead of setting up ear to ear I chased the more intimate light as it threaded through the bows of the trees and lit the leaves on fire in a tranquil torrent of auburn, red and gold.

What's this!? Dust removal in lightroom? At long last? I think I might cry.

I just adore the power of the light in this image. It’s such a simple one. And yet I feel you truly get a sense of the light and energy and invigorating serene beauty that I felt in the moment. Kyoto, Japan | December 2025.

Can you feel the depth of this slot canyon? The draw of it…and the tickle that makes you wonder if dragons are truly truly the stuff of fantasy? #iceland #photography

First, the momentum of No Kings, and now this stunning rebuke of the MAGA hijacking of America is a truly hopeful glimmer of light in a profoundly dark period for the U.S. - I just hope the Dems can finally figure out how to communicate and its not too late with too many safeguards destroyed.

I'm just assembling my Top 100 B&W images from 2024 (yes 1 year behind). The upside to being numerically incompetent, is that I've made the hard choice to exclude quite a few images based on 90 slots and only just now (that i'm done) realized I set it up with 90 and not 100. Time for a bonus round!
