the next big nintendo showcase/game awards shows an extended version that ends with the baby opening their toybox and its a bunch of fighter trophies I can see it now

want to try smth new but the jump from "undersea biopunk" to "meta multiverse timey wimey" stuff feels too big and too soon? Then it undoes the transition by pulling back to rapture and trying to turn what was its own thing into a shoe horned time loop and maybe bioshock is not as good as i remember

i think it was also to pay respect to system shock as bioshock very much wears its spiritual successor status on its sleeve but i do agree. The third game feels like a transitionary stage that never fully took place. Like yeah I can get with the idea that they've done all they can with rapture and-

do come up you hear all these things on narrative legos and pushing games forward and all this stuff and at the end of the day you look at it you just see more bioshock and system shock and wonder why it has taken more than a decade to get a title drop.

and it felt like the story didn't actually wanna lean either way into any of the political ramifications it set up to the point where the dlc had to fix things bc even the devs went "oh yeah we gotta fix that daisy fitzroy plot" and even then it didnt really do that. Then you lean into the ending-

It's really funny seeing bioshock infinite have a really big....reappraisal over the years. Like when this game came out all I heard was "this is AWESOME, this is META, Troy Baker and Courtnee Draper push the ideas of performances in games forward" and complaints about no rapture. Then I played it

Slight thing is that vigours do have the side effect of being painful to use. By making them drinkable it causes more body horror. In Rapture the lightning plasmid just gives you blue veins but the vigour causes you to physically grow crystals all over your arms that act as coils BUT THAT BEING SAID

I let out a little "oh that's really good" when i saw it so id say yes

It unintentionally serves as a good finale. Not ending with another swinging sequence and instead Peter and MJ having their final bittersweet dance with each other. I know people would like to see a sm4 but honestly that's one of my favorite sendoffs for the character independent of the issues there
