My worst traits in order
- crying at the end of National Treasure
- believing National Treasure could be real
- crying at the end of National Treasure 2
- also believing that could be real

So many things I still do today bc I was working and riding the bus in that era. One night back then 7-8 of us got off the bus going home from work & formed a tight pack, men & women walking to our apts. No one said a word. We all knew why.

If this is something you don’t know about, I’d suggest the book “Son” which lays out this case in great depth

I also want to say, this case was something I had read about long before even moving to Spokane. Women were attacked just blocks from where I live now. It’s so harrowing and jarring that it all has carried on this long, until now. I genuinely could not contain my tears yesterday

-Point in time counts aren’t always accurate
-Martin v Boise was overturned recently
-Boise’s housing crisis is second worst in the nation
alexdugganreports.bsky.social
Couple things:
-Spokane has more than double Boise’s homeless population
-Martin v Boise took place under Bieter
-Boise homelessness has gone up the last few years but then decreased by about 17 people in the last year

New: Former Boise Mayor Dave Bieter talked to a crowd of 700 in Spokane last night about how Boise has dealt with homelessness and how Spokane should mirror that. Bieter’s focus was policing the homeless and putting more effort into drug / mental health centers. www.spokesman.com/stories/2025...
Spokane has 'great bones,' former Boise mayor says. Is it enough to reduce homelessness?
It’s something you hear people say often: Boise has a better handle on homelessness than Spokane.

Locally here in Spokane, you’ve gotta subscribe, but The Spokesman has some kickass reporters like @alexdugganreports.bsky.social, Monica Carillo-Casas, Amanda Sullender and Emry Dinman. Monica and Amanda are grant-funded, so you can always read their work for free.

From me: The former acting U.S. Attorney for Eastern WA resigned in July due to concerns about Justice Dept. leadership inside the Trump Administration, he told me exclusively last week. www.spokesman.com/stories/2025...
