Really sad news - the staff at Cafe on the Square are some of the most lovely, kind, and caring people you will ever meet. Many have worked there for over a decade, and know almost every City Hall employee’s name, order and story by heart. I hope they’re given all the support they need.
Sad to see Toronto City Hall’s cafeteria close for good today.
For all the by local campaigns, City Hall could not manage to keep the café running.
Spoke to one employee, who said that they could no longer afford the rent and that their business was shrinking ever since Covid.

A complete abdication of government’s responsibility to promote public health and save lives by the PC Caucus (and half the Liberal one, as well). Shameful.
Yesterday, Ford's Conservatives—incl. Simcoe County MPPs Dunlop, Downey, Mulroney & Saunderson—and the Ontario Liberals (MPPs Fraser, Hsu, Hazell & Blais) voted for the anti-science Bill 223. It will close close to 60% of supervised consumption sites, set back harm reduction approaches & cost lives.

This is perfectly summed up. They don’t care what bathroom Sarah McBride uses. They want to make sure the next Sarah McBride doesn’t run for Congress in the first place.
People who keep posting these creepy "heh heh so then she goes into the men's room..." things really don't seem to understand the purpose of bathroom bill stuff.
It's not actually about forcing people into the wrong bathrooms. It's about forcing them out of public life entirely.

A few hours on here really does highlight just how bad Twitter has become. It is incredibly refreshing to not see horrific racism, misogyny and transphobia on the timeline every few minutes.
