For a few years I’ve settled into agnosticism on the question of “who should own the means of production”. Too confusing

I’m thinking of that one song by YG feat. Nipsey Hussle. Then Outstanding by the Gap Band. Then Once in a Lifetime by Talking Heads. Then despacito

What book is this?

I understand what you’re saying but I’m not sure there’s anything to learn; Gluesenkamp Perez is likely the only D who can win in that district, much like Joe Manchin was the only D who could win WV. Compare to Paula Swearengin who ran as a progressive D in WV in ‘20 and lost by 40 points

No man, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is not a nazi descendant, her name before she married was Marie Perez and she’s Mexican-American.

Her district is exceedingly hard to win for democrats (she ran 7 points ahead of Harris) which is why people generally tolerate her saying stuff like this

This gives me painful thoughts to the history and story of pellagra. Referenced many times in the Grapes of Wrath, it was a vitamin deficiency that wreaked havoc on malnourished people, while the rich sneered

Why isn't it an issue anymore? Vitamin fortified foods.

So smaller populations don’t count when a fascist junta invades their territory? Interesting take

Kind of connected: my mother is a programmer by trade/training, but got out of the game in the 90s. She was telling me about how she and her coworkers had (e.g.) all the sorting algos memorized bc they were doing so much more from scratch every time. Very quaint compared to ‘import numpy as np’

I think it was Bucklew who (some time ago) was talking about how the advent of the package manager didn’t destroy the profession, bc there’s always an interface to program, and glue to create. Anyways the real job is to implement business logic

Lately I’ve been doing spec-driven development and it’s pretty fun. I think that the quality of my code is better off for it, but I sometimes feel dissociated from the actual work
