Maurizio Lazzarato argues that the shape of the next phase of history will not be determined economically, like an exchange between contractors, but only by forces capable of entering the strategic plane of the friend-enemy relation.

Yes I'm redoing my desert island discs list, and yes I can't decide which fab four track to include

I think it's high time the castaways are given the entire discography of The Beatles in addition to the Bible and the complete works of Shakespeare

Couple of first time listens that won't trouble my top 5 - X & The Lounge Lizards, one I've dismissed - Soft Cell (in contention because 'Say Hello..' is the best closer ever but in truth, I don't really like the rest of it), other three are all strong contenders.

Six album covers in two columns.

They are from l-r;
X - Los Angeles (1980)
Soft Cell - Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret (1981)
The Lounge Lizards - The Lounge Lizards (1981)
Young Marble Giants - Colossal Youth (1980)
The Feelies - Crazy Rhythms (1980)
Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes (1983)

Is Slurm a "non-mammary drink product" 🤔

the line "products secreted by mammary glands" might have just made a vegan of me.

The reason the Right are so invested in the myth that the arts have no value isn’t because the arts don’t generate wealth (they do); it’s that studying the arts teaches people to imagine better ways of judging the value of an idea than by counting how much money it makes…

Antifa Activist Michael Heseltine Shifts Overton Window Leftwards
bbcnewsnight.bsky.social
“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

Imagine you're at a writers' retreat with the lads and you're all showing off a draft after dinner and then your mate's girlfriend goes here is the novel Frankenstein which I just wrote

Been waiting for an opportunity for this one, gutted to have missed it in the cinema.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

#NowWatching
#FilmSky
Film poster for the latest Mission Impossible film: The Final Reckoning.

It's a black and white close up of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt staring down the camera with a determined look on his face. The films title is below with the actors name above. His name and the subtitle are in light fonts and Mission Impossible is in red.

Couldn't watch the Leeds game, maybe I need to miss a few more.

Over the moon for Tel and Kudus, furious with Porro for fluffing that disgusting little pass from Xavi.

How did we actually play?

Anyway, hate writing like this, it feels like gloating and I hope it doesn't come across that way. Just wanted to share what feels like a rare win for us after/during a very tumultuous few years

Seemingly found what we hope will be a great landlord, just an old family home they've kept hold of. Welcomed us in person with a card and a bottle of fizz. You'll never find me singing landlords praises, but I'm hopeful for us these ones are as nice as they seem.

Had a really nice shift in life recently, managed to find a nice 3 bed house with a garden that we can somehow afford the rent on and left our flat. Having the extra living space for our little boy has lifted a weight I didn't realise was there and I'm so grateful.

Not one for the cool kids but what the fuck do they know. You could keep Pete Doherty's heroin and supermodel gf antics, my 00s rock and roll idol was an autistic, McDonalds addicted loner.

I think I must have listened to Make Up The Breakdown at least 500 times when I was 14
alexmonteets.bsky.social
Giving #5debutalbums0004 a bit of a look. Kicking off with these two at work this afternoon.
The album cover for Hot Hot Heat's 2002 debut album, Make Up The Breakdown. It's a black and white photo of the band cut out in that sort of collage style that was big in the early 00s with a dirty grey background and the banks name and album title superimposed over their faces The album cover for Life Without Buildings debut album, Any Other City. Again it's a black and white photo this time of a young woman's profile with the top of her head cut off and a black background. The photo has some random items on it, a black drinking straw, 4 red tipped matchsticks and a 1p coin tails side up. The album title and band name are in the top left hand corner.

If there's something inside that you wanna say, say it out loud it'll be okay, I will be your light...

Really special evening not remotely encapsulated by the sole photo I took.
The Beta Band playing at The Roundhouse last night. The photo is from the left of the stage some way back and the band are standing in a purple/pink glow with a big black screen behind them with their tiger face motif in a circle, rotating around the screen
