In addition to the (very true and valid!) "if they come for ____, they'll eventually come for ____" argument, any oppressed group also inherently deserves support and care and resources and autonomy and freedom, not ONLY because those in power might come for someone else next.

many innovative exhibitions at your favorite museums are funded by federal dollars. so are important staff positions, publications, programs in the arts. we are going to see a sharp turn culturally in what our institutions spotlight and discuss.
