For those less interested in lawns, I did make the most delightful discovery when cutting the grass back: we have tiny (wild?) strawberries hidden in amongst the lawn, begonias, & overwhelming weeds.

The view of the moon out of our back window is pretty spectacular tonight. There are some fairly picturesque clouds giving it a great atmospheric vibe, but my phone's camera doesn't readily pick it up through the window.

Wtaf, Fitbit? I'm flabbergasted.

Believe it or not, my Samsung actually has a zoom feature designed/advertised for taking photos of the moon. Here's one from June last year, taken above my old house.

We engaged professional packers for two days of our moving odyssey, and I know there are those of you who will especially appreciate the contents labelling they applied to this box. 🤘

How is the move going? I haven't left the property today, and yet...

Me: "Oh, this is a thrupenny bit."

My mum: "They didn't have thrupenny coins, I'm fairly sure."

Me: "It's three pence, right?"

Mum: "Yeah..."

If you've spoken to me even briefly about my thesis in the last 15 months you'll be able to imagine just how excited I was to turn & stumble across this pile on the floor of a new & used book store in Hobart.

And then how overwhelmed I was that Aaron bought them for me as an anniversary present.

I just had to get a photo of this for @whaler.bsky.social .

No problem! She sent me this to share with you, & said these principles plus the gypsum/clay breaker & a light dressing of top soil might help your "dreaded backyard" (her words) look better. Keep us updated on how you go!

Life is feeling a bit overwhelming for me right now, so I wanted to share something that made me happy: I've had this hoya fungii since 2008/2009, & this is the first time it's flowered. The lighter photo is this morning, the darker tonight, & you can see flower buds open over just those 12 hours.

@alchemistsstudio.bsky.social & @cstuarthardwick.com, these two posts of yours lined up beautifully in my feed. I thought you'd like to know.

The time lapse of a little frog who was less than impressed that I touched him when reaching for the tap (I wasn't looking! I did a head count but wasn't expecting a 2nd frog! I apologised profusely, especially as I'd been harvesting chillies with the hand that reached for the tap!) It looked mad.

Sometimes nature likes to give pointed reminders, reminders like:

"Don't forget to check your dog's fur for grass seeds after you've returned from your walk."

Many couples go have romantic dinners for Valentine's Day. @ajacobs.bsky.social & I tend to end up at concerts. Most years, it's a metal band like the Perturbator & Gost double act, or Cattle Decapitation (genuinely), but this year it's one of my favourite bands.

We're such romantics. Twu wuv.

With the guidance and encouragement of @mildlyreal.bsky.social, today I tried to (quick) pickle my crop of Bishop's Crown chillies. I've never pickled a damn thing before. Oh, maybe cucumbers over a decade ago, but I can hardly remember that so I'm not sure it counts. I hope they taste okay.

This is brutal when one has no real climate control of any kind.

I wanted a storage bag into which I could put some of Lucy's stuff, especially fabric items, & this option from Daiso was absolutely irresistible.

My family absolutely got my measure for my birthday: a hard to find book for my thesis from my mum, & awesome D&D paraphernalia from my husband. I feel remarkably fortunate, loved, and a bit spoiled.

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll check them out further but I'm not going to lie, this made me seriously laugh in how unthinkingly US-centric (& ultimately inaccurate!) it is.

Spent a good chunk of the the day at one of my favourite used bookstores with my other half, & came away with a decent History Haul. A great day by many metrics.
