battery news:

1. 1MW charging a passenger car with a good curve (400km in 5 min)

2. Silicon-Carbon anodes in consumer products, (+25% energy density)

3. Sodium ion in consumer products (derisking supply chain)

4. Dry cathode in commercial production (claimed lowest cost per kWh in the world)

Excited to join Bluesky and sharing my work on geothermal power.

Geothermal isn't well understood, but it presents an incredible opportunity.

To get a sense of why geothermal is so valuable, we need to look at the bigger picture.

So let's start with two trends shaping our energy systems.

Reposting one of my favorite transmission facts. China is crazy.
Holy shit did people know this existed? China built a 2000 mile (not a typo) 12 GW (not a typo) transmission line in 2019. That is 24 GWmiles, or 24 years of US transmission expansion at current rates. www.hitachienergy.com/us/en/news-a...

Tesla won the EV war in the US. The next one, is about autonomous driving. Federal (favorable) regulation of autonomous vehicles is a much bigger prize than the IRA $7.5k credit.

'500 GW economically viable solar wi/six miles of fossil generator & sharing grid interconnection...wind adds 300 GW...dashboard shows the 1400 fossil generators and potential for shared capacity... existing renewable generators, ~250 GW capacity, can share their IX with 250 GW of additional storage'
500 GW of solar could interconnect at existing fossil-fired generators
Fossil generators sharing their point of interconnection with renewable generators could be a “mainstream strategy” for integrating solar, wind and storage “at speed and scale,” say four researcher…

Faster charging & deployment

1. smaller battery packs needed for an EV
2. Closing the “fueling” gap 🕰️with ICE cars, making EVs work for those living in apartments

When people say "How are we going to replace the 75% of our energy which comes from fossil fuels?" this is the reason why we don't have to. Most of that 75% is waste and switching to electric means that waste mostly just goes away.
Key fact: clean energy technologies are vastly more efficient than fossil fuels technologies.

Great visual RMI.
