Wasn’t too bad. About -8 to -11C. Coldest I had this year was on opposite side of Hokkaido: -22C in Yoichi.

Nope. Lots of nature about but not that kind. Sea Eagles, mostly. Nature watching up there is great but tends to happen mostly on the land in winter.

Very grippy. Boots an integral part of the dry suit. Not surprised Japan is a rubber boot leader. Some great boots made here.
