I've had a battery of blood tests, a covid vaccine and a flu vaccine in the last 24 hours so I bought myself a cheap supermarket trifle as a treat because I'm an adult, yet sweet treats still soothe.

Ironically, people not reading is partly why this is such a mess. The criteria are clear in the booking forms (or at least they were when I was booking), people just don't read stuff. I had to explain the same to a pal who was outraged that NHS staff weren't getting covid jabs this year.

I reckon the radical policy is to take mediocre NT/English "Heritage" properties and turn some of those buildings into the community hub of small towns with decent homes/gardens; doctor, social worker, pharmacy, post office. It could work, I think. Not just ugly rabbit hutch shit new builds.

If the government really wants to scrap degrees which deliver no value to the UK and indeed have led to £ billions in damage to the economy and culture of the UK then it just needs to scrap the Oxford PPE degree and arrest everyone who has taken it.

FWIW i'm not suggesting it gets uninvented and ultimately it probably should be on the NHS for many good reasons. But I wish we'd fix some of societal shit underlying how we got here.

for morbidly obese people, for sure. But there are unintended consequences we should at least consider. James describes in his article, he's not suddenly fitter, just thinner. For some people, this could result in increased frailty, for example.

Thinness helps, but it's not a panacea is it?

Take me as an example. Even if I could take one of these drugs (contraindicated afaik and I can't afford them), I will STILL have an enormous torso despite a BMI of about 28. The judgement is already horrible.

I recognise the positive health outcomes and reduced costs to the NHS ... 2/3

Something about this feels discriminatory still, and makes me worry. Anyone who can't take it for other medical reasons immediately getting stigmatised for being outside the perceived gaunt new norms.
Fat as primary discrimination reinforced. Are we ok with that?

"The NHS had told me to lose weight, but given me no resources to do it. The magic option of Wegovy injections were being talked about in headlines. Why not give it a go?" is such a throwaway demonstration of rich folks being able to buy their way to thinness while others get scolded. It's icky.

A tiny, tagged Monarch butterfly has flown from Southern Ontario in Canada to *Oklahoma* in a couple of weeks, as part of their migration

And they haven't got google maps open on their phones either, they just know where to go
