not a problem imo
i have resigned myself to the fact that in my lifetime, almost all of my knowledge will be dwarfed by that of a computer. not the embodied stuff tho. i’ll definitely be able to fuck better than a computer when i die

the epistemological status of LLMs is actually a very important thing for us to think about. “can i cite them?” maybe! when? great question!

i put forth: companies must pay to use training data. sites pay this out to users, in part. similarly, copyrights allow rent seeking on training data.

or a more fun one would be “if you train on X, you Must open weight your model”. makes the fruits of the data open for anyone.

have you used Claude Code anytime recently?? this feels so far off from my experience

I say "power tool" because, like a power tool: it works much faster, it is a much less precise instrument, it is less safe, and yet we will use it because using a chainsaw is often preferable to an axe
November 27, 2025 at 3:07 AM
it's like getting power tools. yeah you can't be as exact. sometimes you fuck up. but it's a POWER TOOL you're blitzing through stuff that took hours before, that's a hell of a thing

ok but like. it doesn't write bad code? it's pretty good? and they keep getting better, so even if you don't think it can write good code now there's no reason to think that that would hold true forever

my wife could beat up any polycule if the stakes were high enough (e.g. me suspended over volcano, me tied to railroad tracks, etc)

"data centers are evil" no they're actually computer palaces
