being an ML/AI girlie right now is like if you were a marine biologist and suddenly everyone is obsessed with octopi and asking questions like "should we give octopi jobs and make them in charge". and you're like. well. here's why that's not as bad as that sounds
this brings me immense joy to read. this is what life is about: driving yourself insane by erecting monuments to dead mad gods
Not sure what everyone’s so confused about. This is perfectly clear to me.

glad to see people giving this site the appreciation it deserves. i do the cool Ian knot bc its Fast zoom zoom
For over a decade I have tied my shoes one specific way: Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot. I learned it from Ian (aka Professor Shoelace) whose site is over two decades old. The knot has never failed me. I spoke with Ian about knots and the dangers of the modern internet. aftermath.site/ians-shoelac...
Ian's Is Still The Best Site For Tying Your Shoelaces
Ian's Shoelace Site has been teaching people to tie their shoes for more than two decades. His knots are wonderful. But it is vulnerable to the forces tearing the internet apart.

when i was younger i read God’s Debris by Scott Adams and the effect it had on me was a shrug and “that’s neat”. anyways i hope that the muted resignation to his life and death inspired other far right commentators thinking of their own mortality to take a pause

A vast Maginot line was built specifically to defend against models that simulate fan art or write college essays.

Now “Claude Code” has crossed the border from a different angle. But what even is CC? The same kind of thing? Not easy to try on the web, so who knows? The Maginot guns are silent.

reminds me of what @vortexegg.com says about the spirit of fascist play. extremely useful framing because instead of reacting to things they say you can immediately discard anything that comes out of the mouth of a fascist
1/7: i don't think this is quite right in terms of first-order purpose, which is to invite you into the in-group. it's less "this is what we're believing" and more "this is the play we're running, you in?" it's this participatory aspect that makes it so powerful.
One of the core purposes of right-wing media is to rewrite your memory and reprogram your moral response to an event you saw with your own eyes. George Floyd died of a heart attack. Jan 6 was a peaceful picnic. This process has already begun
