A few years ago I played Godspeed You! Black Emperor for my girlfriend for the first time and I had to stop the record because she didn’t realize that the loud crashing sound we heard wasn’t part of the record and there was a dude outside with his car in our neighbor’s tree

"Blue Ruin" is a perfect movie. Just had a rewatch. It does a great job of pointing you to you exactly what you need to note, and then rolling the dice on whether that pays off two, ten, twenty, forty minutes later. You see bullet holes in the Pontiac at minute three.

so in short - I am skeptical on AI replacing Hollywood in product capability, but I am absolutely befuddled as to how anyone makes Ai Feature Film in the next 3-5 years commercially viable purely from a “who in the fuck will you get to watch this at the scale that makes you money off of it”

I'm not ruling this sea change out, but: a huge share of the expense of making a movie, is marketing the movie. (not that long ago, 25-35% of the total expenditures, easy.) if nobody's in the movie, who's going to promote it? (best case scenario, someone without traditional levels of charisma.)

i thought the panda express orange sauce would be a lock but it actually has some red pepper flakes floating around in there that i can't even register. my kids will get there someday but for now we have a whole second, milder orange sauce.

we did a diaper composting service and they were very very clear in the intro materials: "for cholera reasons, we can turn this into mulch for office park planters and basically nothing else." and i haven't chewed on a single piece of office park mulch since.
