Finishing the day with the demo of Painkiller!

I didn't know they were developing a remake of this game until today. Now the game is online co-op, which I rather like. It's also faster, bloodier, and noisier

Ryne-Arca, an indie open world action RPG

It's obvious that the game is extremely ambitious, the demo already features and entire city and multiple areas to explore. For now, the whole thing feels very rough and it might take a few more years of development for it to be polished

Escape from Ever After, basically a Lovecraftian Paper Mario

The sprites are gorgeous and I'm obviously jealous. Game play is pretty similar to what I remember from the old Paper Mario games. The demo definitely makes you want to keep exploring the town and uncover the mystery

Legends of Amberland, I clicked because it's a dungeon-crawler RPG of course.

Game is obviously trying to capture that very retro Lands of Lore feeling and nails it. I'm just wondering why there's so many enemies everywhere?

Red Dawn, basically X-COM with schoolgirls.

This is what gaming is about. They nailed everything important, the game is super fun, and I assume the minor UI annoyances will be fixed by the game's release.

Saga of Yurina, a Japan-themed action platformer

The game plays well, but the demo was very short. It's hard to form an opinion about a game in less than 10 minutes

Salary-Mon, a JRPG where you play as a Japanese サラリーマン.

The pixel art looks good, with some interesting VFX. But I didn't really get where to go after the shrine 🫤

If the devs ever stumble on this tweet: in a JRPG dialogue, pressing A once should display the full text, twice skips

Familiar Findings is an incremental game where you collect familiars.

The gameplay loop is pretty straightforward: summon a bunch of familiars, let them passively collect mana while you do something else and use that mana to get stronger familiars.

A tiny-scoped demo but not a bad one.

Starsand Island seems to be this Next Fest most popular demo. It's basically 3D anime Stardew Valley.

Is it crafting and farming game number 9001? Yes. Is it a solid one? Very probably yes.

Only drawback was sub-par performance on my machine.

Going to try some demos from the Steam Next Fest today

First one to get my attention is Effulgence RPG. It is a turn-based RPG where the 3D world is rendered with ASCII glyphs.

The game looks really good, which is why I clicked on it. Sadly I don't feel that the gameplay is clicking with me.

I don't even need to fill the template

Today I discovered there's a Wikimedia project called Wikivoyage. It's basically a community-driven travel guide.

You can browse any destination, learn how to get there, what you can visit and if there's anything important to know about the area: www.wikivoyage.org

I've been playing Yakuza 7 to practice my Japanese, and the hardest part is definitely figuring out those test questions in less than 30 seconds

I totally get how Ichiban feels

Craziest outcome of making a game: someone made clay art of our characters!

Glad to see that our game passed review and works on Linux 🐧

I also changed the transaction modal to be simpler by default. Now you it will assume you bought/sold at the day's closing price and with 0 fees.

You can still use the old system by toggling "Use advanced transaction form" in the settings.
