What's a citizen-initiated petition? If Taylor (and friends) can gather the signatures of roughly 177,000 Alberta voters in a 120-day period, and Elections AB verifies them, a govt committee must then prepare a report on the proposal or send it back to Exns AB for a referendum vote. #AbEd

I took the form and $500 to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer. Three weeks later, my application was approved!! Now the hard work of collecting signatures will begin !!

The government of Alberta recently changed their rules for citizen initiatives. The information on their website makes the process straightforward. I first consulted with a group of public school advocates to create a question that was clearly stated. I used their feedback to fill out a form.
