Most of the things I do with friends are things that require some level of booking in advance; going for meals, cinema trips, the local board game cafe, TTRPGs.

That leaves you responsible for deducting their number from any reservations you need to book; and whenever someone says "Oh I would love to make it but" and then rattle off excuses it puts other people off from attending, so it's overall harmful.

if you invite someone to an event or something and they have an excuse (no time, no money, no energy) three times or more, stop inviting them. Even if they say they would love to if they could.

I can totally see refusing sexually explicit, harm to children, rape, serial killer, AI, and depending on the magazine's tone/style, splatterpunk. But everything else? Religious and political themes accounts for about 50% of the world's best horror.
