Wonderful to wake up to this publication this morning! CRAFT is an incredible journal, and it's a delight to have my work there.

A virulently white supremacist administration from top to bottom and if they all wore white sheets to work daily, a good chunk of the country and the entire mainstream press would shrug.

ICE attempted to enter the home of a woman with her children in Huntington Beach. However, the entire community, police department, and city council intervened and forced them to leave.

Keep fighting back ✊🏽

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Letter: One wonders if some see Trump’s destruction of our world as justifiable because the end of days, and the return of Jesus Christ, is nigh. Why bother with responsible stewardship for the Earth — and its people — when it’s all about to end?

This is so lovely. I can understand how deeply people can get burnt out from any number of things, but if someone is supported and has their needs met, caregiving is one of the sweetest intimacies. (And my husband has cerebral palsy, so we do a lot of mutual caregiving as well!)

Pic my kid took of a dandelion, the fluff gathered from the day's rain. He said they looked like minecraft pixels.
I picture of a dandelion gone to seed, the fluff closed into little rectangle tufts, on ground carpeted with dry brown leaves and over laid by several thin dandelion leaves.

In light of this news, I've created a Utah County May Day event for Saturday, May 3rd at Provo Hall, from 1-2 p.m.

Let's get the referendum on the ballot and protest the Government takeover!

ABBREVIATE is out next week! Can’t wait for this hybrid study of smallness to be out in the big wide world!
A purple and pink cloud background features the word “Abbreviate” and a glowing girl wearing neon coral standing with her hands held over her head. The back cover copy reads: A small collection of small essays, Abbreviate examines how the injustice and violence of girlhood leads women to accept—and even claim—small spaces and stories. In lyric flash prose, Sarah Fawn Montgomery shares a girlhood shaped by neglect and abuse from adults and saved through the communal care of fierce female friends. The essays in this collection probe the girlhood play of Polly Pocket and planetariums, strobe with a sleepover blacklight illuminating teenage magic, and ricochet with the regret and rage of adult women whose lives have been constellated by harm. Full of stars and scars, Abbreviate examines what happens when girls and women are haunted by hunger and self-erasure, asking us to reconsider the space we make for our secrets, shames, and selves.

“The reason it hasn’t remained wasn’t because it didn’t solve the problem,” Koven said. “It actually really hugely solved the problem. There weren’t any complaints, there were actually only praises. It just came down to finances and aesthetics.”

The hitch: admin said the poles were ugly.

At the #protest yesterday, I led 2 calls & responses & it felt so good! It was fun! If we can convince folks #protests are not boring/scary, but fun & the energy is so invigorating & motivating, we'd get more bodies out there. We need to focus more on that aspect even if that isn't the point.
A picture at the protest in Provo Utah yesterday. My daughter is wearing a blue shirt representing the rescue agency she supports and a pink Cheshire cat mask and she is sitting in her wheelchair. Her white sign says in pink letters even the pets are angry and has a black angry dog and a black angry cat at the bottom. She is sitting next to a woman who is standing and holding a black sign with a fluffy white bunny face and it says no Bunny wants trump. A large crowd of protesters stand behind them.
