Looking for a community to see us through these dark times, and friends to share life with, and experts to learn from. Progressive Christian against Christian Nationalism and for standing with women, LGBTQ+, people of all races. Husband and father.
It's what we did before Reagan and trickle down started moving all the wealth upwards in the 80s. I remember. We had a broad shared prosperity based on companies working for the benefit of all stakeholders (shareholders, workers, customers, their city, state, country, etc) not just shareholders.

A small open boat with outboard motors is not crossing the 1300 miles of open ocean from Caracas to Miami. It's absurd.

Companies are booking so much profit that there is too much capital to invest wisely.

Meanwhile the workers for those companies are starved of a living wage and a few perks in life.

How could we ever redistribute that profit to solve both problems? Easy. Pay the workers more for a decent life!

What silence? So many of us from the Presbyterians and the UCC and others are speaking out and protesting but we get no coverage unless we’re getting pepper balled. Evangelicals get coverage because they fiercely collect money for politics instead of helping people. We can’t spend money like that.

For the rest of the world, electing Trump once was an accident and a mistake. Forgivable.
Electing him twice shows malice and incompetence in the electorate, making the US always one election away from being unreliable and erratic even if we vote blue next time. Not easily forgiven or forgotten.

Rupert Murdoch et al. pump out right-wing lies in a 24-7 propaganda op that means most Americans have no idea about what Trump is really doing or stands for. There's also a vast anti-intellectualism here that makes most Americans uncurious and therefore without context to judge lies. It's bad!

High earners and people with high wealth should pay a disproportionate amount of the taxes because they are the ones whose lives have been most benefited by the system and will be least affected by the tax burden. We allow them to exist on condition they pay society back generously. That’s the deal.
