I’m finding it hard to feel hopeful in this terrible world, and just *being* borders on impossible most days, but here is a good thing that happened recently. I’m super proud to be part of this powerful anthology. I still can’t believe I’m in a book with so many brilliant poets. 💚

Press statement:
Sídhe Press aspires to be a safe space. This means that we will not tolerate writers who are racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic or discriminate against anyone in any way. The ethos of my press is not just a fashionable statement to me, it actually means something. We are writers, words need to mean something, why bother otherwise? It has come to my attention that one of our former contributors has actively and openly supported the crowdfunding for the group that took the case to the UK supreme court, the case that is so deeply hurtful and dangerous for our trans sisters – and all trans and non-binary people. I have now been put in a position where I can´t unsee/ unknow the things this person so willingly supports., so I have removed said work from the anthology in question. A safe space can´t be a safe space when people insert themselves into it, hating and picking on an already marginalised group that just wants to live in peace. If you use your voice or your platform to actively hurt others, then your work has no place in our books. You cannot be published by my press if you openly condone the harrassment of trans women. I haven´t once heard any of the women associated with this movement speak up for Palestinian women, by the way. The concern for „all women“ and that kind of feminism seems very selective at best. We send solidarity to the trans members of our community. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Trans rights are human rights. Annick Yerem EIC Sídhe Press April 2025

Several times this week I've noticed parrots with their heads angled so they can watch the sky (their distance vision is better with a single eye pointed directly at the subject).
The cause: A Little Eagle soaring at high altitude - right at the limit of what my 500mm lens can handle.

Louisiana released a bit more information late today about the person who contracted #H5N1 #birdflu from a backyard poultry flock. The individual is in critical condition. Over age 65. Has health conditions that make him or her at higher risk of bad illness from #flu.

#CDC has confirmed an #H5N1 #birdflu case in Louisiana, in a person believed to have been infected through contact with infected birds in a backyard flock. This person is seriously ill, the first such case recorded in the US. Similarities to the recent BC case. www.statnews.com/2024/12/18/h...

Never forget that masking is more than just protecting yourself from covid.

It’s an act of compassion, resistance, solidarity and community care.

It shows that you don’t believe people are expendable. That you refuse to be responsible for someone else’s suffering.
