As a society we should support and care for our most vulnerable. The Labour vision of the welfare state was one that supported people “from cradle to grave”, not just those who are capable of working. How we as a society treat children, the elderly and the disabled is a reflection of our humanity.

Some people can work. Some can, but not right now. Some never will. All are equal.

I do not deserve more state support just because I’ve been able to work at times. Disabled people shouldn’t be ranked by ‘productivity.’ We deserve dignity, full stop.
