To me, the best route the team could have gotten would have been to make him act more like a guardian figure who forcefully tries to steer Amanda into complacency while also KNOWING & FEARING the harm she can do to him, like someone trying to “tame” a wild animal.

According to my friends who actually played it, it seems rushed and suffers from a twist that isn't a twist so much as the build up and the payoff having no connection and coming off as disjointed.
The general consensus is, it seems incomplete and baffling
