Just one day after Amazon announced layoffs for 14,000 of its employees, Alphabet made it clear that mandatory layoffs are not inevitable in the tech industry.

We're fighting for job security for ALL of us – including our coworkers on H-1B visas. Last month, AWU added a new demand to our Googlers For Job Security campaign: severance as leave, so that workers on visas have extra time on the payroll to find a new job & maintain their legal status in the US.
