We measure the attention that research outputs receive from policy documents, mainstream news outlets, Wikipedia, social media and online reference managers. We detect sentiment of Bluesky/X posts.

Come for the attention to research. Stay for the memes.
Yep, it’s a great platform. We’d love to track them. You ca make your interest known to them as others have - perhaps it’ll sway them!

See all our other responses to the same question n this thread. We can’t unfortunately presently.

Sadly we would need a search API from them, which they discontinued in around 2015. Webber asked them. At the moment their grind is in a different direction.

We have the old data. You’re right, it actually had some volume in that area.

Huh. Must have used my calculator like a n00b.

We need to be tracking the domain (for example the one for semantic scholar) first. However I don’t think we’d consider that a source of publications. Publisher links, identifiers, Pubmed links, preprint servers etc. I’ll check.

I really need to play untitled goose game. Looks hilarious. That and goat simulator 3, hilariously the sequel to Goat Simulator 1. That matches my energy

Yeah the humanities has never been easy to track sadly. While we have some, the great volume of it is untraceable. If only they would adopt the DOI.

In raw numbers yes. By comparing the sizes of the user bases and post volume, Bluesky is easily the more science heavy location. Plus links are downlinked on twitter so good luck finding the papers.

LinkedIn can’t be indexed currently because they deprecated their search API. Feel free to make that known to them as some others have done.

So we used Altmetric on GBQ for this:
total Bluesky profiles that mention research: 788624

bsky matching just 'mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy': 961
bsky matching just 'social.ap.brid.gy': 1183
TOTAL bridged accounts with ap.brid.gy: 2144
0.3% of all bsky profiles which we track

Links to publisher pages for items, disambiguated by DOI, or Pubmed ID, ArXiv ID, URN, RePec or SSRN. Some ISBNs as well but ISBNs aren’t unique and are sometimes people’s phone numbers lol. We don’t catch social media posts by paper title.
January 8, 2026 at 9:09 PM
We have that for Twitter but not (yet) for Bsky. We are working on that.
