Picked up roommate last night in the damp drizzle from their office, and the campus roadways were moody as heck.

Visual calm pause for anyone who needs it. I recorded this Sunday evening, we had no snow earlier.

The accumulation was entirely from some point after 15:00 and 19:30 when I went outside to check the cold frame and shot this.

Got myself out into sunshine.

Was going to dig up some of the wormwood to start a hole for the second elderberry, but remembered the wormwood is only thing that has thrived- that corner gets dried out in heat from large maple tree.

Stripped the leaves and seed heads, stems ready for retting.

Came outside to make myself absorb some sunshine.

Started digging bigger hole for elderberry.

Had to take break.

Decided to prune some maple powdery mildew on leaves.

Realized one of the grafts attempted in spring succeeded!

(Probably need to try to untie twine so that it doesn't impede later)

Post something random, in hopes of a better November. Or to avoid an awful November. Whichever.

Kraft Mac and Cheese (American) versus Kraft Dinner (Canadian)

Caveat: I didn't have the skim milk called for on the KD box, so made with 2% (which is how I've always had it)

To me the difference in flavor is subtle, whereas partner finds the Canadian version too different

The salad I meant to serve last night - the Field-less leaf lettuce is amazing delicate, and mouthfeel is like fresh picked out of someone's garden.

I think it's hydroponics-- I think key is packed in cardboard with a film lid. Going to try & keep few leaves kicking around to see if go slimy

Got the turkey out of the oven. Am exhausted but mellow, roommate has us playing Secret Hitler, and I forgot how much the deck is stacked against liberals.
October 12, 2025 at 11:46 PM
Y'all. I got the hems stitched.

I have a whole bunch of warp thread ends to weave in (hadn't thought to carry them along in selvedge until toward last third of length)

Making myself prep food for tomorrow. Had to stop to eat food. Hyper focus only wants to play with thread.
October 12, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Roommate, this morning, after asking them several days ago, announced they wanted to buy a turkey for dinner tomorrow.

They were not happy when I told them they had to buy a fresh not frozen turkey for it to work.

Also, fuck, this is turning into complicated production and I'm spiking fever again.

Running out of weft on shuttle just as I can't advance any more warp feels like winning thread chicken on the sewing machine bobbin.

(Going to go take my 12:30 meds an hour late and brush my teeth. Later I can remember how I like to tie off ends, for getting it off the loom)
October 9, 2025 at 5:48 PM
Nearing end of warp, my speed has slowed down a lot - partially the joins of where I added length, partially tension on warp getting interesting.

This is 15 minutes this morning, while partner does their work stuff beside me in room turned office

Do something rather than nothing, progress.

Brought loom outside to weave, HVAC install ongoing, furnace got done yesterday, heat pump today.
October 2, 2025 at 4:52 PM
HVAC install needs to be able to have access to where has enters townhouse.

Roommate removed wall panel, but it was higher

About 40 minutes to wet scrape, and pull down the bottom part. Not sure how long the vertical end took me earlier

Duct work blocks actual gas pipe, but I'm done for now

"I could use this for something"

"Yeah, poison"

"There's got to be something else, maybe essential oil?"

"You want to distill poison?"

"No 😔"
October 1, 2025 at 1:48 PM
I'm barely awake. HVAC is here.

Bins blocking living room I asked roommate to deal with last night, weren't. But now have been.

I moved my camping pile that was blocking downstairs bathroom (had to get enough out of the car to get my wheelchair back in)

but install site way better than it was

Spent some time with the river, before I head back to the city.

Hug a tree or touch grass if you can. Or pet some moss. Or look at a rock. Or swirl of something mixed into a beverage.

Yes, there are Horrors and a lot of stuff beyond what I can impact, but trying to recharge when possible.
September 29, 2025 at 7:40 PM
Spent the afternoon turning off and packing 110 or so solar lights. Have another 30 I need to find a bin for, that don't have an off switch.

Have to bike around campground after dark to find the ones we missed picking up in daytime

(This is brain happy)

Sometimes brain just goes "nah, we don't like it" and i unweave a few hours of work and do it differently
September 26, 2025 at 2:48 AM
Got tarp washed and dried from camping.

Decided to tie more thread to warp, so I can visually complete the pattern in my head.

I did it before my nap, some aren't tight enough, but I can't get my earlier knots untied, so manually holding the warp tighter when I need to 😂😬
September 24, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Surprisingly, the weaving I did Saturday night is quite decent.

As someone pointed out "have you ever woven to hip hop by a fire?"

I hadn't woven by a fire previously.

The warp on other side of the heddle plate is a little tangled from stuff on top of it in bag on way home, but can be sorted out.

I don't want to emerge from my tent.

Shoulders ache slightly (wasn't burrowed down far enough in sleeping bag), but for first time this season, air mattress stayed fully inflated

If I didn't have a doctor appointment tomorrow back by my place, I would just feral all week.
September 21, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Have realized 3 Celsius is the too cold point for weaving. But that was amazing experience
September 21, 2025 at 4:25 AM
Finished the 50 grams of roving I had been spinning since big August festival. Wound off onto a sturdy paper towel tube.

Wanted to weave earlier today, so doing it now.

Air temperature/ humidity had my breath fogging my glasses when I biked down to grab my loom.
