Autism is not what we have been led to believe
As an autistic person, I feel this is the root of ever major issue that I have experienced in my life.

Its true that sometimes they may jump to conclusions (just like anyone else does frm time to time), but for the most part the idea of RSD only serves to gaslight people and their very real experiences.

My mom was a school counselor! She knew enough to do a kind of personal ABA with me, which I hated and has a big impact on why I don't want to be involved with any sort of therapy or have any evaluations. I know myself well enough to know that I don't fit in any pre-determined box.

Autism wasn't widely known when I was growing up, and my symptoms appeared mild to others. However, I’m happy to have avoided behavioral therapy and any involvement in the mental health industry. I certainly won't willingly put myself into the hands of that industry at this point in my life.

I know the feeling. Mine has been on silent for about 10 years now. The alerts make my heart jump even when I'm not busy.

The reactions I get to telling the truth are wild. I've started to try and see the comedy in it...otherwise it's just too depressing.

Same with me. I have a hyperlexic and numernumeric son as well. Such children can certainly be harmed if the parents don't understand what's going on.

I'm so thankful to be old enough to have avoided autism therapy as a child. Not sure if I would have made it to adulthood as myself otherwise.
