Something else I think people fail to realize is that Texas v. Beccera seeks to declare Section 504 unconstitutional due to spending clause regulations. Spending clause is also the mechanism behind the Civil Rights Act. This would set precedent. www.disability-rights-watch.com/2025/02/12/w...
What’s the Deal with the Section 504 Lawsuit? - Disability Rights Watch
Section 504 is a civil rights statute that says any entity that gets money from the federal government (funding, grants, etc.) cannot discriminate on the basis of disability. It is part of the Rehabil...

Precisely why I don’t watch live events or live news even when I want to. Live captions are such a headache! Click on Sara’s post for her whole thread.
Charlie Kirk and assorted knuckleheads: Just use closed captions! You don't need an interpreter!

Systemic ableism forces us into poverty and makes it nearly impossible for us to get out of it. When we have to choose between healthcare and marriage, that is systemic ableism at work.
One thing that isn’t talked about enough is how closely tied disability can be to homelessness. Many disabled people are forced into poverty in order to keep their medical benefits. By doing so, the income they receive isn’t enough to live off of. This isn’t a moral failing, it’s the system’s fault.

I love my local library! It has so many books, plus events, workshops, and gatherings!
If you don’t have a library card go get one. Even if you don’t plan on using it right away, go get one. Keep our libraries alive.

Those who are calling this “the time between Christmas and New Year” are forgetting that Christmas lasts 12 days.

One of the most commons signs of aging is hearing loss. Just think: if all movies in theaters were open captioned, no one would miss out!
Your chances of being able bodied your entire life are slim to none. It’s always in your best interest to advocate for a more accessible world.

I was an office PA in the art department on this project! So proud to have played a role in bringing this piece of history to the masses!
Congrats to my friend Nyle DiMarco and Davis Guggenheim’s upcoming documentary #DeafPresidentNow which has landed at Apple Films. It tells the story of the 1988 protests at Gallaudet University, which led to the installment of the school’s first Deaf president. BRAVO!

Just saw the #WickedMovie and, as a Disabled vegan, I really appreciated its take on both #DisabilityJustice and #AnimalJustice. I felt the movie did a good job on the nuances of living as a less desirable being in a world that favors normative looks and behaviors.
