I was also invited to watch a talk by a transphobic barrister at the BBC. with about 50 people in attendance.

the whole talk was just bigot shit about self ID and other nonsense bigots had just made up.

And lol, we paid for that. with our license fees.

noone faced any consequences for this.

7/ Why is Trump bothering to intimidate the BBC with the threat of a €1 billion libel suit?

Because the BBC has a very large audience in the US, where it is trusted considerably more than all major US news brands.

Truthful reporting is anathema to autocrats.

6/ Michael Prescott is an old friend of Robbie Gibb & was on the panel to choose the head of Ofcom when Boris Johnson was PM.

Gibb tried to swing it for a Tory apparatchik but was overruled by (of all people) Nadine Dorries, who preferred another.

5/ Boris Johnson knows full well that Trump tried to illegally overturn the US election result & encouraged those who violently assaulted the US Capitol on January 6.
Now he's giving ammunition to Trump & the billionaire media barons who aim to destroy the BBC.
Contemptible.

Left: Boris Johnson attacking the BBC over Panorama's coverage of Trump on Jan 6th

Right: Boris Johnson criticising Trump over Jan 6th

A former British PM attacking the BBC, is that really patriotism?

4/ Robbie Gibb was heard last year to say that if he didn’t get his way with the BBC, he would “blow the place up”.

Someone has certainly blown the place up very effectively.

3/ It would be interesting to know exactly what role BBC Board member Robbie Gibb played in this affair.

Whoever leaked Michael Prescott's inflammatory & ideologically loaded memo must have known what damage it would do to the BBC.

Cui bono?

2/ Hanover has been described as expert in media manipulation & covert lobbying.

You could be forgiven for seeing the leaking of Michael Prescott's inflammatory memo as a textbook example of media manipulation (with the full connivance of the Daily Telegraph et al).
