Our recipe book is finally published! Have a look at some of the recipes from Tz'utujil Maya women from our "Recipes for Recovery" project.
This work was part of my contribution to the @gcrf-ixchel.bsky.social based at the @edinburgh-uni.bsky.social as a postdoc.
Thank you all who contributed! 🌱

We are pleased to share our latest #OA book, 'Mujeres Tz’utujiles: Recetas para la Recuperación en Chuk Muk'.

This recipe book is part of a transformative feminist & decolonial project that documents the agri-food traditions within the work of Tz'utujil Maya women.

🌋Hot from Kīlauea #Volcano, read about a 𝗻𝗲𝘄, versatile and nimble technique for real-time monitoring of lava lake fluctuations using a continuous laser rangefinder. Used by #USGS Hawai'i Volcano Observatory since 2018 to monitor magmatic system pressure & hazards👉https://tinyurl.com/52kbk2m6

🌋Exciting new article in Journal of Applied Volcanology by
Paine and Wadsworth, who created a global compilation of fall deposit and ignimbrite volumes for #eruptions >M4. They found little or no buoyant plume component for eruptions of the highest known magnitudes😯👉https://tinyurl.com/44jsepxn

🌋✈️Brand new article in the Journal of Applied Volcanology by Debrel et al investigates changes to aircraft flight paths during ash-rich #eruptions. Greater volumes of airspace affected by ash result in greater deviation of flight paths with longer travel time & fuel use⏬⏬⏬

Although NOAA's page on atmospheric CO2 levels has vanished, you can still get this vital information from Ralph Keeling's team at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego keelingcurve.ucsd.edu

Please follow bsky.app/profile/keel... for updates and share

Don't let science be hidden
A graph of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations at the Mauna Loa observatory, Hawaii, from 1958 to 4th February 2025. It shows carbon dioxide levels rising at an accelerating rate over the decades. This is known to be due to emissions of carbon dioxide from human activity, mainly fossil fuel burning but also deforestation. The first CO2 concentration value in March 1958 was 315 parts per million (ppm). The latest daily value is 426 ppm. The graph also shows a seasonal cycle of a few ppm within each year, which is known to be linked to the growing season in the northern hemisphere causing a temporary uptake of carbon in spring and summer and release in autumn. The graph is produced routinely by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego.
