Yesterday evening. Chicago. — Sunset, with one dark chimney and a few trees on the horizon. Orange sky at horizon, grading into yellow and then blue the higher you go. Clouds are cirrus, with many parallel striations. Cross-cutting wave forms visible in the higher-up clouds.

a short panicle of soft pink flowers with 5 lobes spread flat & a tubular corolla; the tips of stamens are just visible in the mouth of the flowers. several of the flowers haven't yet unfurled & resemble long-stemmed pink mushrooms with corkscrewing caps a closer look at a few soft pink, 5 lobed flowers. their pink color fades to white at the mouth of the corolla tube, where the tips of stamens are just barely visible. one flower has yet to fully open & its lobes form a swirling cone a short herb growing among groundcover and leaf litter on a shallow creekbank. its sessile opposite leaves hang limply to the stem, a protest against the creek having dried up. the plant is crowned with a cluster of pink flowers
