Can I just add a British perspective. Reform are in trouble. Despite being massively under reported the Gill / Russian money scandal is huge. Remember he pleaded guilty. I suspect MI5 are all over RefUK's accounts and sooner or later this is going to blow up. Timeline 👇🏽

We are surrounded.
There is no hope.

I'd book you as a tour guide for Rome :) Love the sights you are seeing (and describing). PLUS makes me feel less FOMO about not visiting the Vatican when I was parked* outside Rome at Easter.

A perfect review when you think about it:
‘I don’t understand’
‘I must leave now’.
(He stays.)
Then he goes.
And in the end there is no meaning.

What Ireland is doing with its financial support for creatives is an attempt to keep the flame alive. But there needs to be a much, much bigger conversation about what we - the human race - are doing to ourselves and our culture. AI should be a tool for scientists, not a replacement for artists.

All this will do is put fake art everywhere because it's cheap to produce and turn real art into a cottage industry made by the comfortable with other sources of income. This is how our civilisation dies. Murdered by technology, not freed by it. And the real culprit is corporate greed. [cont]

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

I read this as ‘Compiling a best to worse post-war Conservative poetry leadership board’ and was aghast at Truss penning an ode.
But I’m tired and my brain is numb.

I understand your point. As soon as I posted it I felt a twinge of wrongness, but I was unsure how to describe the image. But as you say ‘a painted canvas of a figure reading a book’ is better than nothing. I’d edit it if I could.

I usually add alt text … but sometimes I don’t want to reinterpret the visual art of others (see my recent post - no alt text for the painting). It somehow feels I’d be denigrating the artist if I tried to put their image into my words iyswim.

Someone on Twitter (an artist) painted me a canvas illustrating our chats and sent it to me. Amazed that someone I didn’t know would do that.
