Actor, director, librarian, city-lover on Lower Tanana Dene land (downtown Fairbanks, Alaska). Anti-racist, anti-fascist, anti-patriarchy. Love me some radical politics and modern plays. And Star Trek. He/him/his.

I hate to break it to y'all, since he certainly *deserves* to be avoided by women, but... his social profiles show him on a couch with a woman about his age and six (!) children. He's one of the "husband-father-pastor" types. With a slightly fashy haircut.

I can imagine the appeal of chemicals that help one not think about it.

something better than his doggerel

Hard to tell: are you speaking sincerely, or with derision? My first thought was, "Oh, man, Harris is an AWESOME playwright, how sad it would be if he were stuck in prison and unable to write, on account of such a small offense!"

No, he looks like a Black man. But I can see how, to a racist lacking self-awareness, that could look like guilt.

Definitely not cheating. Just a part of his private fantasy life, where he (and every person) is allowed to imagine getting it on with anyone he pleases as long as he is discreet and for the love of all things holy DOESN’T LET THEM KNOW.

"I'm okay with my husband's having his own, private imaginal life where he fantasizes about other women, but I have to be able to believe that none of those women are my friends. If he's fantasizing about people I know, then it feels violative or like he's cheating."

"We're actors! We're the opposite of people!"

(2) I dislike seeing people's armpits, yet I don't feel entitled to say whether tank-tops should or shouldn't be allowed, if that's what the people locked in a giant steel tube feel comfortable wearing. And I'm sorry that others *do* feel so entitled.

Again: (1) If it were a notable safety concern, airlines would have made policy about it, the way they do with returning your seat-backs and tray-tables to their upright and locked positions. In this regard, I will trust their liability attorneys and risk-management officers.

While I don't think airlines have our Genuine Interests at heart, I do think they're finely attuned to liabilities. And if there were any measurable risk (that could later bite them in the ass), they'd have a rule and enforce it. So forgive me if I think you're reaching, to justify your own taste.

I don't like looking at people's armpits, but here we are in a world where folks get to wear tank tops because it doesn't harm anyone

I don't understand some people's obsession with making others wear shoes. Is your safety impacted, or is this just a kink?
November 27, 2025 at 1:42 AM
Other passengers will be less safe because of some passenger not wearing shoes? If that were a thing, the crew would ask us to keep them on, the same way they ask us to put up our tray tables.

Were they enacting illegal orders?

no, thanks, I'm comfier sitting with them off, and their absence doesn't affect you, so stuff it
