A hiring freeze is one thing; rescinding *accepted* offers of employment is just being cruel for the sake of being cruel, and upending the lives of countless young lawyers (and others) who now have to scramble to find alternative employment (including, perhaps, in entirely different cities).

My heart breaks for the law students losing their hard-earned jobs and for the Department to which I dedicated years. Rescinding honors program offers across the government will have long-lasting, negative impacts on justice and the provision of valuable services. But I guess that’s the point.
