I am really sad to hear this - I have known of him all my life right back to the heady days of emerging pop music and particularly the folk band Pentangle - but loved his solo albums too

From Kate Bush to Pentangle to T-Rex, the late Danny Thompson’s musical brilliance knew no bounds
The bassist, who has died aged 86, was an extraordinary and wildly versatile presence in British music, bringing his personality into everything he played

Breathtakingly beautiful unaccompanied choral work - to hold such beauty in your soul and to find such an exquisite way to express it - the acoustics of the building are as much an instrument as the voices - compelling #choral #classical #johntavener

I am constantly overawed by the consummate artistry and skill of the musicians on the Proms #Firstnightoftheproms #BBC and I cannot tell you enough about how important music is in life

I have heard Satie transcribed for guitar before - but this is lovely - Xuefel is very delicate clearly in love with the music she is playing - enjoy

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism.

If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone.

Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

Van Hollen says that he asked the VP of El Salvador why his government continues to hold Abrego Garcia even though he’s not charged with any crime and there’s no evidence that he’s MS-13.

“His answer was that the Trump administration is paying the government of El Salvador to keep him at CECOT”

THIS IS SHOCKING - the financial links between MPs and the private healthcare sector. We have just completed research showing that...

MPs received more than £2.7m in donations from individuals and companies directly or indirectly connected to the private healthcare sector between 2023 and 2025 🚨

I’m not going to leave X just yet - I hate that sense of being driven away from a place I used to love. But after one day on here, I already know how much prefer it.

So if you see this and would be kind enough to share it to let people find me, that would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

It is a sad reflection of the fact the greed of some affects the many
Not a worldwide phenomenon.
