1-10 Slave of the Scorpion:

story? in my Primal?

seriously though, while i do love the very episodic nature of the first 9 half-hours, obviously Primal needed to shift to having some type of long-term plot-line if it was going to resist becoming stale - and i'm definitely intrigued !!

20 - general thoughts: yeah, this one kicked ass. easily my favorite of the season, and honestly probably gonna end up being one of my dozen or so favorites from the franchise as a whole after a few more rewatches. just such a great use of the fact that this series has so many things to pull from -

19 - and now this episode finally has who it needed to truly be one of AT's best -
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
18 - and of course, we couldn't end the episode without a little DJ Flame shenanigans. still as amusing as ever, but definitely a little harder to pay attention to that usual.
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
17 - yeah we're definitely headed towards an emotionally tough finale haha
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
16 - obviously want these guys to meet in the flesh again, but even if they don't - this is a great send-off to FW Finn, finally returning the favor to the person who saved him from his path of destruction.

15 - RIP to the Cosmic Owl, but at least his death was a sacrifice to such a great episode.

Fionna's line here also makes me think we've got a pretty good chance to see what's left of the Citadel -

13 - i also really appreciated how they allow Fionna to be properly fucked up by watching this alternate version of herself die over and over and over again. it's a nice reminder that, in comparison to every other being in this show, she's kind of new to the whole "surreal" element of the series.
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
12 - so AT is one of my favorite things on the planet, and is also a franchise with 300+ episodes - and yet the way they portray this dream sequence as a series of clock-based death sequences staged for an empty audience might just be the sickest thing they've ever done. so fucking good !!
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
11 - this is such a hilariously composed shot lmao
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
10 - i kind of wish we had gotten more of a reaction from Farmworld Finn here, but it's just nice to see the guy in any context. him holding his prime world equivalent in such high regard is really sweet as well.

8 - it is somewhat hard to see past how inherently funny this scene is, but it is quite heartbreaking that Cake sees her abilities as a curse, something she'd be devastated to pass on.

i wonder, if we continue to get seasons of F&C, would we ever get one where she's actually the focus?

7 - okay the arm might be gone...
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
6 - HW having to hunt down Cosmic Owl before he watches Finn die in a dream - holy shit that is such a good premise. besides just leaning into the whole "Huntress" angle of the character, it also allows for so much of the dream-weirdness i love from the show !!
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
5 - it seems like this show is definitely headed towards an HW breakdown about Finn treating his life as worthless making her feel worthless as well, and it's scenes like this that will make that moment feel absolutely gut-wrenching.
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
4 - i quite liked this scene as well! besides just being really funny, it's just interesting to see how Marcy's views on being a vampire have evolved since the events of Stakes.
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
3 - fascinating scene between the Hunt(er/resse)s. Hunter immediately understanding their connection is such a fun interpretation of the character, and the fact that they're instantly sick of each other's BS is immensely charming.

really hope we get to see more of this !!
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
2 - sure, it is hard to even remember this part of the ep. occurring when considering what is about to come, but this scene does make me a bit more hopeful for the human-side of the plot-line.

some fun Marshall and Gary moments here too, although they do officially no longer resemble Bubbline -
November 27, 2025 at 6:59 PM
1 - really loved this cold open, definitely fleshes out Cosmic Owl into the character he really needs to be for this episode to work.

these alternate art-style openings in general have been really nice, and such a great way to make these episodes feel more surreal from the jump.

Fionna and Cake 2-6: The Bird in the Clock !

1-9 The Night Feeder:

i guess all of Primal is at least partially built around the idea of anticipation - but this episode REALLY is. just quite impressed with how they transferred the anxiety of our duo into the audience, making us wait to figure out what the hell the title creature even is.

10 - general thoughts 2:

... very quickly losing any sense of scale (now she owes more money i guess??)

i really do understand the desire to meander around and advance each plot a tiny bit at a time, but we shouldn't be at episode 5/10 with so little actually occurring, right?

9 - general thoughts 1:

for what is still an episode of a show i love dearly, i just wasn't a huge fan of this week's outing. the HW/Cake plot was weirdly unrelated to literally anything else, the Marshall story is becoming logistically complicated incredibly quickly, and the Fionna stuff is...
