Craft tip: when orienting readers in a setting, think like a camera. Guide your readers through the scene, but avoid popcorning so readers don't get disoriented. This summer, #KidLit Craft has a course for you, no matter your writing needs. Sign up: https://www.kidlitcraft.com/classes #amwriting

This weekend, grow your story! Take a few days off. Put your project on the back burner and turn your attention to something else while your subconscious works through it. You'll pick things back up on Monday after the break refreshed and ready to dive in again. #amwriting #writesky #kidlit

I just taught my last Writing Middle Grade for Picture Book Authors class of the summer yesterday. The best part is seeing writers so excited to start drafting their projects and having confidence that they can do it. (Info for fall at bit.ly/writingMG2024)

Best morning: a 2+ hour phone call/walk with your writing bestie, talking about all the things and still having more to talk about, but saying good-bye for now so you can both get writing done.
