Thanks to the corrupt (and stolen) SCOTUS, if the US gov't stiffs you, you'll have to take it up with the Court of Federal Claims. And this is essentially an arm of the Trump Administration. When we wake up and will take back all that has been stolen from us?

2️⃣ SCOTUS is seemingly pushing *all* grant termination litigation to the Court of Federal Claims.

This is expensive and time consuming, and some plaintiffs may give up.

But if they don't, they may face even more political hackery. Trump has appointed 10 of the CFC's 16 active judges.

The Trump admin just asked the Supreme Court to let NIH cancel $783M in diversity-related research grants, after a federal judge ruled the cuts illegal and discriminatory.

BREAKING: Six leading medical organizations filed a lawsuit on Monday against Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the health secretary, and the health dept, charging that recent decisions limiting access to vaccines were unscientific and harmful to the public.

The full ruling explaining why NIH grant cuts are illegal came out today.

It's just as blistering as the judge's oral remarks. And it uncovers fresh details in DOGE's role orchestrating the cuts — and on the cuts at Columbia.

Here are my top highlights from the 103-page ruling. 🧵

After ruling the NIH grant cuts were illegal yesterday, Judge Young, a Reagan appointee on the bench since 1985, ended the hearing with a blistering 15-minute speech.

I've cleaned up my notes — here are his remarks in full. 🧵
Judge rules against NIH grant cuts — and calls them discriminatory
The decision means that the US biomedical agency has to restore funding to hundreds of research projects, but the government will likely appeal.

This is false. Our trials have been halted and participants have been dropped. We wrote the NIH director to explain this disconnect and have yet to hear back. Go to grant-watch.us and see for yourself.

Thanks @maxkozlov.bsky.social for reporting facts

Not your fault. We appreciate all that that you do. From our experience POs have been provided little direction of how to handle policies. Leadership needs to provide direction for all policies before implemented so the communication is clear and timely.

We're tired of the false information and wrote this letter to the NIH director Jay Bhattacharya. FACT: clinical trials have been halted. With real ethical impacts. Is this what Americans want to be known for? Let's see what the director says.

Of course people aren’t dying. When you don’t track it.

🚨BREAKING: In a huge win for public health and democracy, a federal court ruled that the NIH’s ideological purge of life-saving research grants is unlawful.

Today, the rule of law prevailed — and science, once again, belongs to everyone.

Um, sorry. We've been developing interventions to address disparities and those trials were DOGE-d. This adds fuel to the fire.

I can vouch for this team of researchers. Share your story with a 5 minute survey. The impacts of terminated NIH grants are real!

Help us document the impact of NIH grant terminations!

If you had a grant terminated, please check your email for a VERY BRIEF survey. If you did not lose a grant but want to help, please share widely with academic colleagues.
Was your NIH-funded project terminated? check your email for a brief demographic survey. We are a team of researchers at UC San Diego, University of Maryland, Emory, and the University of North Carolina documenting the impact of NIH grant terminations. If you have not received a personalized email and want to be counted, please indicate your interest here [arrow indicating a QR code]. For anyone protesting this Saturday, be safe and civil. These are great suggestions for signs to make it clear that PROTEST is not REBELLION.

The gov't doesn't have the exclusive power to (mis)interpret the law, the people can give it meaning too under the principle of popular sovereignty. The law doesn't treat protests ag immigration raids as a "rebellion" & I explain why (and provide signs!). youtu.be/bIEhD2hw2oM

Shame on WAPO for calling this a 'rebellion'. That will just stir a police state response. This is scientists *standing up* for research ethics and human lives. Let's not let the norms slide here. None of this is normal.

Next on the list for grants cancellation: California.

Agencies are being told to start identifying grants the administration can withhold from CA. On Capitol Hill, at least one committee was told by a whistleblower that all research grants to the state were going to be cancelled, per @cnn.com.
